Unity WCD Challenges 6,7,8

Hello everyone, today I thought I would share the last of the Unity World Cardmaking Day challenges in one post.

Challenge 6 was all about using a non border stamp to create a border.  I decided to use the snowman stamp from MLS/Unity.

First I stamped three of the snowman standing next to each other and then stamped them again on some scrap paper which I used as a mask.  I placed these over the front snowmen before I stamp another one over the top.  This way you get the layered look.

Challenge 7 was challenging you to get out your colours.  Having just received some of the Kuretake Kurecolors I decided to try them out.  I loved the way they blended and gave some really cool effects when mixing the colours.

Here I used the 'Live, Life, Laugh Girl' stamp and gave the top a rainbow top using the pens.

And the final Challenge 8 was a colour challenge to use Cream, Brown, Olive and Pumpkin as the primary colour combo.     Needless to say I used the mushroom stamp again and teamed it with one of the Papermania Capsule collections.  The colours suited this challenge perfectly.  I also decided to use the technique that I did for the MLS website and paper pieced the mushroom.

I embossed the olive card with a Papermania Embossing folder before adding it to the card.

I have really enjoyed playing along with these challenges and I really must get some more of the Unity Stamps, don't you think!!

Enjoy the rest of your weekend

Unity WCD Challenge 5 - Fall

Mmmm I love the Fall or Autumn as it is known here.  Loads and loads of pretty colours all around and the house is filled with the smell of delicious spices.  It is probably my most favourite time of the year so I really enjoyed making this card for the Fall Challenge on the Unity WCD blog

Products Used : Unity/MLS You Make Me Mushy Stamp, MLS Oh Deer Papers, Cardstock Alphabet, Muse Alphabet, Kuretake Kurecolor Pens, Xcut Leaf Punch, Fiskars Apron Lace Punch.

If you haven't used Unity Stamps they really are beautiful and easy to stamp with.  They are made with red rubber but cling on to your acrylic block.

I finally managed to do some colouring with the Kuretake Kurecolor pens and love how easy they are to blend together.  Of course once I started I was colouring everything in site!!
While up at the Papeterie I stocked up on the diamond card stock and it really does help with the pens ... I would love to know which other card stocks you like to use with alcohol pens.

Unity Stamp WCD Challenge 4 - Sketch

You really can't beat a good ole sketch when all your inspiration and mojo seems to have disappeared and this sketch for challenge 4 for World Cardmaking Day over on the Unity blog is simply perfect.

I flipped the sketch upside down to create my card

Products Used : Unity/MLS Snowman Stamp, MLS Winter Wonderland papers, Doodlebug Trim

Instead of the scallops on the sketch I changed them for the little hearts that sit on top of the semi circle.  If you don't have a large circular die I find a side plate comes in handy!!
Of course I couldn't resist adding some glitter to the snowman :)

Unity Stamp WCD Challenge 3 - Embossing

The 3rd challenge was to create a card which had embossing on it.  I had stamped and embossed a few of the images of the mushrooms for another card so thought that I would emboss in a different way.
So I decided to triple emboss the image and this is how it turned out

You Make Me ... Mushy

To achieve this look you need to ink up a piece of card stock, I used clear versamark.  Next add the embossing powder and heat.  When 'melted' leave to cool and the repeat the inking and embossing powder until you have three layers.  Ink up your stamp with the versamark and before the 'melted' embossing powder sets, stamp the image in to it.  Leave in till cool and then gently remove.

I really do love this effect and these gorgeous little mushrooms from My Little Shoebox and Unity.  All the trimmings and papers are from the MLS 'Oh Deer' range.

Unity Stamp WCD Challenge 2 - Texture

The next challenge over on the Unity Blog was 'All About Texture' and it had to have at least two different types of texture.  I knew exactly which of my stamps I would use.  This cute snowman is part of the Winter Wonderland range from My Little Shoebox and is a Unity Stamp.  Again the sentiment is just gorgeous!

You Melt My Heart

Products Used : Unity MLS Snowman Stamp, White Felt, Ribbon, Seed Beads, My Little Shoebox Winter Wonderland, Xcut Postage Stamp Nesting Dies, Papermania Snowflake Embossing Folder

I had so much fun creating this card.  To create some of the texture I stamped the snowman on to some felt with stazon ink and then cut around it before adding it to a piece of die cut white felt.  I also added ribbon and 3D flowers for more texture before adding it to a card blank which I embossed with a snowflakes.

Off now to upload another card for the challenges,

Unity Stamp WCD Challenge 1 - Shaped Card

I was working over the weekend demoing for DO Crafts and though I was taking part in World Cardmaking Day with all the cards I made I was looking forward to creating my own for friends.

Yesterday I had a few hours in my craft room to be creative for 'me' and I loved every minute of it.  I have wanted to do a challenge for a while so the one over on the Unity Stamp Co blog was just perfect when I saw it.

I am a bit limited with my Unity Stamps (something that needs to be sorted!) and only have three so I had another challenge in using the stamps in different ways.

Here is my entry for the Shaped Card

Products Used : Unity Itty Bitty Live Laugh Love Girl
Papermania Capsule Collection Bexley Black Papers, Designer Die Cuts, Ribbon, Blitters and Big Bloomer

I used a Unity Stamp that was given to me by a friend.  She said it was 'so me' and I can see why with the quote on the dress one of my favourite quotes :) ...

Love, Laugh, Love

The shape on the card is one of the Papermania Designer Die Cuts. I matted on to silver mirri board and then folded in half before cutting around the edges.

I have more cards to upload :)

Hello and thanks for hopping with us today.

We are so pleased to share our new Co-Branded stamps with Unity Stamp Co. Make sure you leave a comment on each blog to win one of the fabulous prizes from Unity Stamp Co and My Little Shoebox. Winners will be chosen at random from the participating blogs.

The new stamps are just adorable and I love the trio of mushrooms with the cute sentiment, 'you make me ... mushy' that I was lucky enough to play with.

It coordinates perfectly with the MLS Oh, Deer collection :)
Here are a couple of cards I made using the stamp ....

Products Used : You Make Me Mushy Stamp, Oh Deer - A Walk in the Woods, Happy Campers, Knock on Wood, 3D roll up Flowers and Accents, Red Buttons, Red Card stock, White Ink, Bakers Twine

I stamped the mushrooms on to red card stock with white ink and embossed with a glittery embossing powder before cutting them out and adding the to the card.

Next I would like to share a photo card I made with the stamp.  The photo isn't a great one with the 'sunny' faces but it does capture a great moment!

And here is my creation ... I had so much fun creating this wee scene for a birthday or even just a fun way to send a note card!

I used My Little Shoebox's 'Playtime' collection and the 'A Little Playtime' stamps from Unity.  Once I had stamped the images I coloured them in with the Art and Graphic pens from Kuretake.
Have to say I adore the little kits flying free!  These stamps are just so much fun and so easy to use!!

My Little Shoebox will be giving away a prize to a random commenter from this week's hop, so make sure you leave a comment on the MLS blog before MIDNIGHT (cst) on 23rd October, the winner will be announced on the MLS blog on the 24th.
